CHP Officer Dies After Motorcycle Crash

               A motorcycle officer with the California Highway Patrol died Wednesday evening after a crash in Sacramento. Officer Lucas Chellew was 31 years old and an 8 year veteran of the CHP. 

             At 5:45pm he was chasing a suspect on a motorcycle going eastbound on Fruitridge Road near Stockton Boulevard when the officer crashed into a poll and was ejected from his bike. He was taken by ambulance to UC Davis medical center where he died a short time later. 

      He is survived by a wife and a child.  CHP will hold a bell ringing ceremony Thursday morning at 10am at the CHP Academy.
