LNU/SCU Fires Over 50% Containment

Firefighters have made big gains on the LNU Lightning Complex wildfire in the last 24 hours, with now 56% containment, according to state fire officials. Cal Fire says the fires have now burned 375,209 acres. About 1,300 structures have been burned since the fires in the complex began.

The largest fire burning in the state, the SCU Lightning Complex Fire, is now at 377,471 acres and 50% contained. 1900 firefighters are battling that blaze.

The CZU Lightning Fire, which is burning in San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties has burned 84,338 acres and is 33 percent contained. 1,094 structures have been destroyed, all but 20 of those homes in Santa Cruz County.

There is no exact time frame when evacuated residents can return home, and it will be a day-by-day evaluation, says Cal Fire.
