The state's independent system operator is calling for residents and businesses to conserve as much power as possible to keep the grid from failing amid the ongoing heatwave, and while wildfires burn up north. The Bootleg Fire in Oregon is threatening power lines that supply energy to California. Demand for power is expected to increase with the start of the work week.
